Methodology

The map contains two independent data models: direct AIGC copyright case law and a narrowly admitted legislation inventory. Their statuses and visual semantics are not interchangeable.

Case-law admission rule

Case Law includes direct AI/AIGC copyright judgments, appellate decisions, substantive interim and pleading-stage decisions, pending direct proceedings, and directly relevant supranational proceedings. Foundational and analogical authorities are excluded. A matter represents one litigation chain, while every material decision or event remains a separate child record.

Judicial proposition status

• HELD - the court decided the proposition.
• PRIMA FACIE - an interim judicial assessment.
• PLEADING SURVIVED - legally sufficient to continue, not proved.
• ALLEGED - a party contention only.
• QUESTION REFERRED - formally referred to another court.
• NOT DECIDED - expressly unresolved or unnecessary.

Legislation admission rule

Legislation is not a generic AI-regulation tracker. Records must concern direct AIGC/copyright rules, closely adjacent creator protections, or older statutory provisions central to current AI/copyright analysis. Non-binding codes, guidance, reports and consultations are not presented as legislation.

Legislative status

In force, Adopted, Partially applicable, Bill, Draft and Withdrawn are distinct. Bills and drafts are proposals, never displayed as enacted law. Partially applicable records retain their phased applicability information.

Scope tiers

• Core AIGC/Copyright - direct copyright, training/TDM, authorship, licensing, remuneration, transparency and enforcement.
• Adjacent AIGC Rights - synthetic-content transparency, deepfakes, digital replicas, personality and performer rights, provenance and related protections.
• Statutory Background - older provisions important to present analysis but not enacted in response to generative AI.

Exclusions and watchlists

Internal exclusion and quality-control records support editorial review but are not published as substantive legal conclusions. Unverified proposals and non-binding materials remain excluded or on a watchlist until they meet the admission rule.

Sources and verification

Official primary sources are preferred. Supporting sources are used where necessary and are identified separately. Each public record preserves its last-verification date.
